Eaten Alive!

The Whitley Bay Islanders hosted the Bradford Cannibals on Sunday 24th May 2009 in the latest Summer Cup fixture. The Islanders were looking to get their Cup campaign back on track after a tough road game in Hull the previous weekend.

However the Cannibals proved too much to handle for the Islanders who failed to generate any meaningful offence on home ice. A frustrating and lack lustre performance saw out the final score Islanders 4 - Cannibals 6.

Islanders bitten by Cobras on the road

The Islanders travelled to Kingston upon Hull to face the Cobras in the latest Summer Cup clash last Saturday 16th may 2009.

Despite leading early and level pegging for much of game, the Islanders lost 8-6.

Games

Games are arranged and played under the recreational section of the English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA). Most games are played against other local recreational teams on a home and away schedule.

History

The team was founded circa 1985 as the supporters team for the Whitley Warriors team of the same era. Over the years the Islanders have always been considered a formidable force in Rec Hockey. That legacy still lives on into the present day with many ex Warriors players and Islanders veterans like Graeme Leslie still lacing up the skates on a monday night!
